According to recent surveys
- 59% of Baby Boomers rely on Social Security for retirement.
- 45% have no retirement savings.
- 44% carry heavy debt.
- 30% postpone retirement plans to age 70 or later.
To retire or not retire may not be the right question. How we retire and how we imagine retirement may be more important. What does retirement mean to you?

I really don’t think that the numbers are too shocking. It is the economic system that we live by that causes the stress. Social Security was meant to be relied upon. It’s difficult to save when you are laid off(maybe more than once). In general, we are healthier than past generations so, retiring after 70 is easier? Maybe.
Some are not that fortunate to have pensions and investments, et al.
