The Power of Love
Human love can be compared to the sunshine which shines brightly on the trees of the forest. The trees sink into the earth and finally are dug up as coal. When the coal burns, it returns the light and heat that came from the sun. Like the trees which receive sunlight, the human heart receives the capacity to love from God. Then, in union with another heart, love burns and returns again to God the love that came from Him.
At her eighty-fifth birthday celebration, it was clear to all present that Margaret had lost none of her zest for life. “What advice would you have for people your age?” Margaret was asked. “Well,” she said, “at our age, it is very important to keep using all our potential, or it dries up. It is important to be with people and to be of service to people as much as possible.” Then, eighty-five-year-old Margaret was asked, “Exactly what do you do from day to day?” To which Margaret replied, “I look after on old lady in my neighborhood.”
